  1. I used some aircraft paint stripper & it cleaned them a lot better than i figured it would. I layed them on the ground in the sun & sprayed them down & took an acid wash brush to each mold & really scrubbed them. Left a grey aluminium residue where they were laying. I then dried them & shot them & the first shot brought the remaining paint residue off. The next round of baits were shinier then they were when new. Hopefully they stay this way.
  2. Mark, will do. I have a digital temperature gun i can use. I don't really figure on setting extremely close because i figure i'll have to handle them some to regulate temps & i don't want my cold one becoming a warm or hot one instead.
  3. I made some baits with mine before i painted. I can rub on the paint & it doesn't come off on my finger & feels dry, but when injecting & letting setup for 3 minutes i can then demold & thanks to the heat they're black as can be & the paint is soft & extremely sticky & can be wiped off with your finger or a rag. I'm going to strip them & shoot them several times to see what happens & to also make sure there is no paint residue of any kind on them & will clean with ether before painting again if i do.
  4. I brush worm oil on the rods for my tube molds & the core shot rods should work the same according to what i've saw.
  5. 1200* is the melting point of aluminium & i asked do-it their opinion about it & they told me it shouldn't hurt however i think i'll strip them & try the 500* paint first & i may set them close to a charcoal grill or by the burn pit in the back yard, but not to close to see if i can cure the paint like that. Good way to cure paint & have a couple cold ones too.
  6. After rethinking this i'm sure the paint needs baking to cure it. Would heating molds in a charcoal grill hurt them? Cause them to warp? Thanks
  7. I used the ultra high heat good fir 1200 degrees. We’ll its suppose to be anyway. My paint is soft so looks like i’ll be stripping them back down.
  8. I could only get the ultra high heat at my local wallyworld so I used it, but i’ve got 6 molds laying here drying now. We’ll see how it works one day this week.
  9. Instead of taping off & trimming out the cavities can you just paint the entire inside if the mold & be ok? Thanks
  10. I'm mixing equal parts brown based lureworks sp 156 & green based lureworks 109 green pumpkin colorant & adding some yellow & it makes the black glitter stand out plus makes it more opaque & everybody that see it really likes it. The problem is I have no clue what yellow it is because there's not a label on it so the question is what yellow would you guys use for this purpose? Just a bright yellow? Thanks
  11. Yep if i'd interpret what i'd read a little better i'd see that he is using a silicone mold & not made such a suggestion.
  12. Could he paint the cavities like on an essential series mold to seal it & smooth out any imperfections thus get shiny baits in the end?
  13. How do you guys have any plastic that sets around & gets old? I order plastic about 3 times a year & never have none left because i wait until i open the last gallon to reorder.
  14. I lost one Friday night that cost us getting in the money, but every fish came on my plastics that i make. Been that way for several years now & you're right there's nothing better than that.
  15. Most claim they don't have to lubricate very often, but i've had to do it with every brand of injector i've had when i've felt them starting to tighten slightly. I keep worm oil in a pint bottle that i squirt into bags of lures when i bag them & i just take cap off & pour some in the injector & replace the injector tip & squirt back into bottle that it came out of. I do the same with the dual injector & then stick it into the blending block & then squirt back into bottle. Easy enough to do when needed.
  16. There's several different options. for injectors. I really like both my single 6 ounce & my twin 6 ounce dual injector. I also had a basstackle 10 ouncer & it was a good one too.
  17. I lubricate mine every 5 or 6 shots with worm oil or as soon as i feel it tightening up & have no prpblem with my basstackle 6 ounce single or dual injector either one. They'll get tight as can be real quick if not lubricated regularly.
  18. Who makes a mold closest to the rage tail grub? I saw the og grub that do-it has, but wondered if there was something else everyone liked? Thanks
  19. I don't know about the bait plastics glitter, but i have had some glitter from a craft store that bled because of to much heat. Try adding it after heating & also try not going over 350* to see if it helps. I have a bunch of lureworks glitter so naturally no problems there, but i also have a bunch of glitter from both walmart & hobby lobby & i don't have problems unless i get it way to hot.
  20. Try a few without dipping & some with & see what happens. I'd think it unlikely, but you never know especially if you're dipping them pretty quickly after shooting. May even try letting a few sit undipped for a couple days then dip & see what happens. It's definitely worth a shot.
  21. . Lots of competition in the bait business for sure. I've had a few try to get me to put baits in their stores & i don't. I do have a couple ideas for when i retire in a few years though that i think will work & may try it then.
  22. I got extremely close to the huiasche or whatever they call it in a super hog style bait now onto the tube.
